Since October 10, 2025, new, stricter EU rules on transparency in political advertising have been in force.
At Adways · Weborama, we have been preparing for this for quite some time. The new regulations require advertisers to clearly state who is responsible for a political advertisement, what its purpose is, and how the campaign is financed.
We generally follow the guidelines set out by politiekereclame.nl, but also offer additional Rich Media formats that fully comply with these guidelines. Our solutions are also compatible with the guidelines set out by DPG Media and Ster. We also closely monitor international developments in this area.
A special transparency label has been developed for this purpose, which is in line with official regulations on political advertising and is displayed directly in the advertisement. This label:
- shows the purpose of the campaign,
- states who financed the advertisement,
- and contains a link to a page with more information about the financing and the parties involved.
In addition, we offer a solution for easily integrating the transparency label into our Rich Media formats. This label dynamically adapts to the available space within the advertisement, without the need for additional coding.
When you use the Previewer, everything is automatically taken care of for you as soon as you turn on the “Political Ad” toggle. All you have to do is fill in the correct information and take into account the bottom part of the ad. Pay close attention to the text, CTA, and positioning to prevent the label from overlapping other elements.
As soon as you turn on the Political ad toggle, four mandatory fields will be added which you will have to fill in:
1. The language of the advertisement
2. Advertiser (the party for whom the advertisement is displayed)
3. Event (the event being advertised)
4. URL of the transparency report – this is the page that explains who is funding the campaign and which parties are involved.
Based on this information, a transparency label will automatically be added to your ad, including a link to the specified URL. In the Previewer, you can immediately see how much space the label takes up, allowing you to adjust the layout of your ad accordingly.

Please Note: DPG Media has its own mandatory text requirement for political banners. This is not added in the Previewer, but only when the campaign goes live. It is therefore important to indicate this in the notification. The Sales and Traffic team is aware of this and will ensure that it is set up correctly during traffic management.
Ensure that the label remains visible at all times and cannot be clicked away or disappear behind other content while the ad is playing.
According to EU rules, the ad must “cover at least 10% of the ad at all times.” To see what the ad looks like and how much space is left for IAB banners, click here:

The political banner must have a separate exit click. This is automatically added when you create the banner, with the URL you provided earlier in the process. You don't need to do anything else. Just make sure your banner still has its own exit URL!
